Researchers Are Now Offering People $300 to Eat Avocados Every Day

If you like avocado then you might be interested in a study that is going to begin soon. Yes, you can get paid to eat avocados.

Researchers from several different universities are recruiting ‘test subjects’ to eat avocados for research purposes. Avocado studies will be happening on several different campuses and you can click here to learn more about how to inquire about signing up or figuring out if you are qualified.

Basically, participants need to be at least 25 years of age or older, willing to eat one avocado every day for six months (or 2 per month for the same period), measure at least 35 inches around the waist if female and at least 40 if male. The participants that are chosen to be in the studies will be broken down into two groups. One will be eating avocados each day and the other no more than two per month. LLU, Penn State University, the University of California LA, and Tufts University will all be recruiting their own participants. It will consist of 250 per university totaling about one thousand people.

LLU wrote as follows in regards to the study itself:

Since avocados contain the highest fat content of any fruit, it seems illogical to think they might actually help people lose their belly fat.

Nevertheless, that’s the hypothesis behind an upcoming study at the Loma Linda University School of Public Health. To sweeten the deal, Joan Sabaté, MD, DrPH, is willing to pay 250 people to help researchers determine if moderate avocado consumption actually promotes weight loss.

Sabaté, who directs the Center for Nutrition, Lifestyle and Disease Prevention at the school, says LLU and three other American universities will evaluate the controversial idea in a randomized, six-month trial.

“The study will examine whether eating one avocado per day reduces visceral adipose fat in the abdomen,” Sabaté says.

This study is being sponsored by the Hass Avocado Board and could reveal a lot more than you think. Perhaps now we will know for sure whether or not avocados help with weight loss as much as we are told they do. What do you think about this? Would you participate in this kind of study?
